Make sure you meet the general requirements listed below. All scholarships will be awarded during the 2024 academic year. Please turn in all application materials no later than April 15th, 2024 Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.


Scholarship recipients will be notified summer 2024.


Scholarship requirements:

  •  Accepted or enrolled in a degree-granting Art program focusing in Performing, Folk, Literary, Visual Art or Art Education

  • Maintain Full-time student status to remain eligible

  • Complete application received by the deadline

  • Candidate in good legal and ethical standing in the community

A P P L I C A T I O N  C H E C K L I S T


Please submit the following web form or request a hard copy of the application by emailing  

appalachiansocietyofthearts@gmail.com. Hard copy and files may be returned to the same email.


Please include, by attachment to the form or by email, the following:

​

  • Sample of scholarly writing, poetry, fiction, or nonfiction

OR

  • No less then three, no more than 10 clear pictures of photography samples, crafts, drawings, or paintings

    • For visual work, images (no more than 10) should be submitted as jpegs. Make sure images are oriented correctly. Include the following information below each image: Title, Media, Size, Date.​

OR

  • Two Video of performance art (dance, reading, storytelling sample, musical performance, etc).

    • For video or time-based work, include a video still or an installation shot of the work with a link to a video underneath. Time-based examples must be under 5 minutes each. A link to a google drive is acceptable for files that are too large for email attachment.​

OR

  • Two to three examples of personal work and a writing sample (Three abstracts of readings or a short 1-2 page paper) for Literary and/or Art Education 

AND

  • Statement expressing your educational goals, personal philosophy, and motivation for applying for a scholarship. This should include your academic background and interests (such as: art courses completed, courses left to take, etc.) Please write clearly and concisely (No more than 500 words).

AND

  • Two letters of recommendation from a teacher from which you have had art instructionor community arts professional.

AND

  • Acceptance Letter or other proof of enrollment in a college art major
